Effective discipline doesn't mean punishing teens for behaving badly. It means teaching and motivating them to behave well. You are your teen's primary role model. If you want him to stop yelling when he's angry, use a calm tone when you're angry. Involve your teen as much as possible in deciding on rules, and be consistent about what will happen if they are broken. When he complies, let him know you appreciate his efforts.
